FAQs
Bow Paving
How long does asphalt installation take?
For smaller projects like parking lots and drive lanes, we typically complete the work in 1-3 days. Larger commercial sites may require several days to a few weeks. It's important to note that weather conditions, site preparation requirements, and necessary curing time will all influence the overall timeline of your project. How soon can we use the asphalt?
You can generally allow foot traffic within 24 hours of installation. For vehicle traffic and parking, we recommend waiting about 3 days. The complete curing process takes between 30-90 days, so it's advisable to limit heavy loads during this initial period to ensure optimal durability. How long does commercial asphalt last?
Commercial asphalt typically has a lifespan of 15-25 years. The actual longevity depends on several factors including traffic volume (especially truck traffic), climate conditions (with New Hampshire's freeze-thaw cycles being particularly impactful), and how regularly maintenance is performed. What affects the cost?
Several key factors determine your asphalt project cost: the size of the project (with cost per square foot typically decreasing for larger areas), asphalt layer thickness, base preparation needs including grading and excavation, drainage system requirements, and how accessible your site is for our equipment and materials.Do we need a new base, or can you overlay existing pavement?
An overlay is possible when your existing surface remains structurally sound. However, full replacement becomes necessary if we identify deep cracks, potholes, or base failure. We'll conduct a thorough inspection to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective approach for your specific situation. What is the typical installation process?
Our installation process follows these steps: site clearing and demolition (if required), grading and leveling the surface, installing or repairing the base layer, laying and compacting the asphalt, and finally completing the project with striping and finishing touches. How important is drainage?
Drainage is extremely important for asphalt longevity. Poor drainage is one of the primary causes of asphalt deterioration, as water infiltration leads to cracking, potholes, and base failure over time. We pay particular attention to proper drainage solutions for every project. What maintenance is required?
To maximize your asphalt's lifespan, we recommend sealcoating every 2-3 years, performing crack sealing as needed, and conducting regular cleaning and inspections. With proper maintenance, you can potentially double the functional lifespan of your asphalt surface. Can asphalt be installed in cold weather?
The ideal temperature for asphalt installation is 50°F (10°C) and rising. Cold weather makes proper compaction difficult, which can compromise quality. While late fall installations are possible in New Hampshire, they do carry additional risks that we'll discuss with you during the planning phase. Will installation disrupt business operations?
There will be some disruption, but we work to minimize impact on your operations. We can phase the work section by section, schedule during weekends when possible, and create temporary access routes to maintain business continuity throughout the project.
